How to format a number using Struts 2 OGNL Tag?

Hi Fellas,

Here i’m going to explain the workaround for formatting a number inside JSP using Struts 2 OGNL Tag. But, before we directly go to the solution, we have to know something about “MessageFormat” and “NumberFormat” classes. Anyway I think this is not the right place to explain.

The way to format a number in a JSP using OGNL is just simple as that.

The stuff inside the first set of braces is the formatting pattern. It says
{ArgumentIndex , FormatType , FormatStyle}; which means:

0 – Argument Index
number – Format Type
#,##0.00 – Format Style

The stuff inside the second set of braces is the actual value to be displayed.

For example, if you assign amount=5851259.52, the output will be 5,851,259.52.
